How we vet attorneys.
A listing on AskSolon is not an advertisement a firm can simply buy. Here is exactly what we check before a firm appears, and what we keep checking after.
What we verify before a firm is listed
- Active license and bar standing. The firm has at least one attorney who is currently licensed and in good standing with the state bar where they practice.
- No unresolved public discipline. We check the state bar's public disciplinary record. A history of serious, unresolved discipline is disqualifying.
- Real practice-area focus. The firm actually handles the case types we list it under, rather than claiming every practice area at once.
- Malpractice coverage. The firm carries professional liability insurance.
- A clean, consumer-first model. The firm works on the standard contingency basis for injury cases and does not rely on the kind of solicitation that Texas barratry rules prohibit.
What a listing means, and what it does not
A listing means a firm cleared the checks above at the time we reviewed it. It is a starting point for your own research, not a guarantee of an outcome. No lawyer can promise a result, and we never imply one. You should still speak with a firm, ask questions, and decide for yourself whether it is the right fit.
How we keep listings honest
- We re-check licensure and disciplinary status on a regular schedule, not just once.
- We remove a firm promptly if it loses good standing or no longer meets our standards.
- We only show a rating when it is backed by real, verifiable reviews. We never invent or estimate one.
- Anyone can flag a concern about a listed firm, and we look into it.
How firms are ranked
Ranking is based on relevance to your question and location, not on who paid the most. Placement is never for sale. Where a firm has paid for a listing, that relationship is flat fee and does not buy a higher position or a better rating.
